| Principal Bass "Maestro Brooks-Bruzzese definitely makes performing in the Symphony of the Americas an enjoyable experience. His rehearsals begin on time, are efficiently ran and end at the scheduled time. Along with being diligent with time, another aspect of the Maestro's expectation of the orchestra is a standard of perfection, yet not sacrificing artistic expressions and freedoms."  Biography Gabriel began his formal bass studies under Maestro Frederick Skrabal and continued under the direction of Maestro Omar Sansone. Gabriel earned a degree in double bass at the National Conservatory Marcel Dupre in Paris, where he studied with Master Pierre Hellouin. While studying in France, Gabriel earned the Degree of Medaille d’Or in Bass and a First Place in chamber music. For several years, Gabriel held Competition of Principal Bass in the Orquesta Filarmonica de Venezuela and also worked for the Orquesta Sinfonica de Venezuela as Bass Assistant. Gabriel has studied conducting under Maestro Alex Berti (USA) and Maestros Henry Zambrano and Pedro Mauricio Gonzales (Venezuela). Mr. Torres is currently Co-Principal Bass of the Palm Beach Pops and Principal Bass of the Symphony of the Americas. Gabriel is currently a bass professor and Master Class teacher at the New World School of the Arts. He teaches bass and cello at Westminster Academy and at Doral Conservatory and School of the Arts. Gabriel is also bass coach at the Florida Youth Orchestra. |
